I typically walk in memory of a family member or friend who succumbed to heart disease or stroke, but this year I'm walking in honor of the American Heart Association's efforts regarding the coronavirus.
While heart disease has been identified as a contributing factor in contracting COVID-19, significant heart damage also is among the debilitating side effects afflicting patients who survive the virus.
The AHA is working diligently with healthcare professionals in Maine and across the country to help develop best practices for treating COVID-19 patients with preexisting heart conditions, as well as those who suffer post-virus related heart complications.
Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people enjoy longer, healthier lives.
Please, have a heart and help me reach my goal today!
