September 7, 2007, my mom had a massive hemorrhagic stroke. September 7, 2020, was the 13th anniversary of THAT horrific day!
High blood pressure is what they say...
The stroke left her with aphasia (the condition that robs you with the ability to communicate - it affected her speech, writing and understanding of language) and the loss of feeling and use of the right side of her body - she was right handed! Needless to say, the last 13 years have been a lesson in patience, an uphill battle for the strongest woman I know and for my dad, her fulltime caretaker, BUT a blessing to all that know her because she is a true example of someone who never gives up and always has a smile for anyone.
I am "walking" in honor of my MomI know with every step I'm making a difference. And when combined with 1 million other heart walk heroes across the nation we have an even greater impact towards curing heart disease and stroke.
