Others who have lost someone dear to them know what it's like to count the years that go by without them. I am already mentally gearing up for this October to be year 5 since my wonderful Mom,
Susan Wright, passed away.
So much life has happened in those 5 years that I wish she could have been here to see. But like so many women, she wasn't aware that the symptoms she was experiencing were a heart attack--for women, heart attack symptoms often just feel like bad heartburn, rather than the dramatic clutching of the chest we see in movies.
It's quite fitting that the American Heart Association has a 'Heart Walk' event on October 25, just two days before our sad 'anniversary' of my Mom's sudden passing. I'll be walking for her that day, and for all the women who I hope learn more about their health and learn to prioritize themselves as much as they prioritize others.
There's a million causes to support these days. I find the content put out by the AHA to have a lot of valuable health information, and they seem to do a lot of good. If you have even $5 to spare, (for the 5 years since my Mom's heart attack), it would be much appreciated.
With all my love to you Mom
Love you more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow.
