My wife Jennifer and I are once again involved with the Syracuse's American Heart Association with this year's HEART WALK CHALLENGE!
My beautiful wife Jennifer was diagnosed with Marfan's Syndrome, a genetic disorder of connective tissue which can lead to weakened heart valves and the aorta. Both her brother & father suffered from the same disease & had open heart surgery in their 30s. Dad succumbed to a heart attack while still a young man. His life taken too soon.
Through extensive cardiovascular checkups, my wifey has been able to live a normal life thus far lengthened by the efforts and research of the American Heart Association and we hope for a day where others can prosper with long and fulfilling lives with the proper care and knowledge of good heart health and awareness.
If COVID-19 has taught us nothing, it's that education and awareness towards the science of healthy ways help extend life expectancy. They've been making huge strides towards understanding the effect of COVID on those with underlying heart conditions. Fundraising and education is as critical now as it has ever been!
In recent years, heart disease and stroke has affected the hockey world with incidents involving Craig Cunningham, Kris Letang and Rich Peverly.
If you've read this far you're already making a difference. Education is as important as donations. But no ice buckets are needed. Just go our team page and go to Give Now. It can be $5. It can be $500 (you'll probably get a personally cooked meal if you do!).
Please help us in our fight against heart disease, the #1 killer of our friends, family, and neighbors.
With a lot of heart,
Todd & Jennifer Cross
