30 years ago, Victoria was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart with D-Transposition. Simply put, she has only 1 functioning ventricle to pump blood throughout her body. After four heart surgeries she has been able to lead a normal life.
The surgeries Victoria had, called a Fontan, did not fix her heart, but changed the way her circulation works. With time, that Fontan circulation will start to fail and a heart transplant will ultimately be needed.
We are walking to continue to raise funds for new drugs and procedures that can help Victoria and children born with hearts like hers. We are grateful for the technology and drugs that has been available to her for the past 30 years, but we cannot stop looking ahead.
Please consider a gift to the American Heart Association in Victoria's name as we celebrate her 30th birthday and 30 years of participating in America's Greatest Heart Run & Walk.
