Madeleine Cane

I'm running in the 2022 Lawyers Have Heart 10K along with my colleagues at Troutman Pepper DC to make an impact in the fight against heart disease and stroke. Even when these conditions do not result in death, they can disable and diminish quality of life for those affected. Heart disease has touched my family personally: my 92-year-old grandfather, George "Poppa" Cane, suffers from chronic heart failure, whose beginnings doctors have traced to scarlet fever in his early youth that caused long-term damage to his heart, exacerbated by decades of long, hard days of work as a farmer in south Georgia. I'm so grateful that he is still alive and kicking. I will be raising funds for the American Heart Association in honor of my Poppa and all of the men and women whose lives were prematurely cut short by heart disease.
