Once again, I'm running for my dad, Greg Rober, who I lost suddenly to a heart attack in November '21. He loved regaling me with tales of how his high school cross country career was cut short by shin splints, but what he loved even more was watching me run. He always attended my high school cross country meets even though I never once placed, and he peppered me with questions each time I picked running back up. Where did I go? What was my pace? How did I feel?
I started running again in February 2022 and am now 8 half marathons deep on a 50-state challenge. Running has proved invaluable – a way to keep grief at bay with endorphin zen, a way to stay healthy in the face of a family history of heart disease, and, most importantly, a way to keep honoring my daddio.
Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that helps folks have longer, healthier, dad joke-filled lives.
