I am a Development Coordinator and I want to raise awareness about heart disease! My personal story started when my Uncle was diagnosed with Tretrology of Fallot at a very young age. Tretrology of Fallot is where there are 4 heart defects and causes a lack of oxygen to reach throughout the entire body.
My Uncle went to Deborah Heart and Lung Center to received expert care for his condition and had his first open heart surgery at a very young age. He eventually became the poster child of Deborah in the 1980's for being one of the first youngest open heart surgery patients. Now, my Uncle is 42 years old and has been living his life to the fullest! Throughout the years he had to get a few more open heart surgeries, but that is why I want to walk for the American Heart Association. My Uncle had a story just like so many others and I would like to help others in need.
