On March 16, 2022 Mike and I received a prenatal diagnosis that our daughter Sloane had several heart defects and would need surgery shortly after birth. After numerous appointments with pediatric cardiologists and surgeons, we realized that we could not get a true understanding of the severity of her diagnosis until after she was born.
At 3 days old Sloane was medflighted to Boston Childrens Hospital and at 8 days old she had open heart surgery. It was terrifying to see our newborn placed on bypass, chest tubes, feeding tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, oxygen, and PICC lines.
To date, she still has a smaller than average mitral valve and aortic valve, but is far exceeding our expectations.
It is because of the funding, awareness, and efforts of our medical teams that Mike and I want to do what we can to provide the same opportunity for other families in need.
Vital research is underfunded, and we need it for our kids to live long, healthy, and happy lives.
Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives.
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today.
