On August 8th, 2022, I was admitted into St Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with what I thought was heartburn. 12 hours of tests later, I was rushed into overnight 8-hour open heart surgery with an ascending aortic dissection. Thanks to Dr. Bobby Yanagawa and the Cardiology department at St Michael's, I was able to keep doing what I love. Syracuse's annual Heart Walk is a great cause to help spread the word on preventitve measures for both heart health, alongside learning about Thoracic aortic dissections.
