This year is dedicated to my beloved sister Sandra Anne Bruno. Taken too soon just this January at the age of 57. Sandra you had such a big heart and you shared that with every life you touched. You will be missed.
My family is no stranger to heart disease. Both my mother and father had heart disease and ultimately it took them. My sister, other family members, friends, collegues this disease is the #1 killer of women in the US, but it rarely gets the attention it deserves.
I would give anything to have more time with my loved ones and I'm walking to give you that chance. I want to give you the chance to have more time with your loved ones, helping them to live longer and helping yourself to live longer to be with them.
Through this walk and your support, we will help educate people, fund research for lifesaving procedures and medicines and provide motivation to get heart healthy!
When I started participating in the heart walk 10 years ago, it was my father who lost his lifelong battle with heart disease. He was my hero, my mentor and my friend. Although plagued all his life with heart issues, he had the biggest heart when it came to being kind to others. I try to be like him every day and honor his memory along with my mother and sister's in participating in the Heart Walk.
Thank you in advance for your support!
