Help me be a Heart Walk Hero!
Heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 & No. 2 global killers. This work is so important because
every year nearly 18 million people die from heart disease and stroke around the world. That’s double the number of people living in New York City today. With cardiovascular disease impacting the lives of so many of our family members, friends, colleagues and neighbors, the American Heart Association (AHA) fights this deadly disease on many fronts. Our size and scope let us have real impact.
Throughout our 96 year history, the AHA has invested more than $4.7 billion in research, more than any U.S. nonprofit organization. As new discoveries are found, they are shared with medical professionals in our community so that the most advanced information and treatments can be applied to your care.
By working with hospitals, we are closing the window of time for cardiac arrest and stroke patients, giving them a better chance of thriving and surviving. Your gift supports our quality improvement initiatives in local hospitals and clinics, so that every patient receives the same, high quality care. You also help support programs within our community that teach people how to monitor and control their blood pressure, cholesterol and other risk factors.
Where a person lives impacts their health. In fact, people living just miles apart may have life expectancies that differ by 20 years. Limited education, employment, housing, environment and nutrition resources and opportunities play a considerable role. Your support helps us to close those gaps and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to achieve their best. Your gift is being used to transform our community by focusing on where people live, work, heal, play and pray. We are engaging our volunteers and partners to be a part of community change. We also are connecting with similar organizations to improve health, we are providing community education and training around risk factors, healthy living strategies and CPR.
The AHA has made significant progress in this fight, but we need your help. Do your heart some good and please make a donation today!
