I am happy to announce that I am in year four as a "Survivor". Life after a heart attack can be an awakening and I am happy to say that Life is Good. Through diet and exercise and support of family and friends I can say that I am in the best shape now than I was twenty years ago. Please join me as I look at ways of paying back for all of the great work of all of those that provided me with a second chance. As I found out first hand, you never know if it will happen to you. Thanks to the American Heart Association and those affiliated, your donation will continue to support critical work and research so that some day "Heart Disease" is no longer the number one killer.
This year is especially important to me. This year I am dedicating my walk to recognize my "mom", Dorothy Yeschanin. My mom passed away this past New Year's Eve at the age of 93. Born on 29Jun1928, my mom was born with a heart defect. There was very little known about open heart surgery but my mom was introduced to Doctor Warren Taylor who was heavily involved in open heart surgery. My mom was not the type of person that was simply going to accept her fate and agreed to have Doctor Taylor perform open heart surgery. The goal of the surgery was to provide my mom the opportunity to increase her life expectancy perhaps into her forties. The operation was extremely successful and my mom was able to far exceed all of the doctors expectations. As a result of my mom's surgery others were able to benefit from what was learned during her surgery. In an effort to extend her life she became a pioneer that helped doctors learn more and more about heart disease. Thanks to people like my mom and the doctors that have dedicated their lives to helping others, we will someday conquer heart disease.
Please join me in supporting the American Heart Association!
