Help us Solve the Problems We're Facing Today
The world and our community drastically changed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it's taken a particular toll on those with heart disease and other pre-existing conditions. 40% of people hospitalized with COVID-19 had cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease (stroke).
The American Heart Associaiton in Central MA is working with local volunteers to address this community crisis in several ways:
- Health Equity education and free resources for the high-risk populations we serve through faith communities and housing authorities in order to reduce the threat that COVID-19 represents.
- CPR Training for as many people as possible with the understanding that 70% of all sudden cardiac arrests happen in the home and we are all spending much more time at home now where surviving a SCA is the most difficult.
- Eliminating Tobacco Use and Vaping is more important now than ever because we know that smoking and vaping INCREASES the risk of COVID-19 as well as heart disease and stroke.
Giving Tuesday is on December 1st and is a way of offering people a chance to GIVE instead of consume and is the biggest giving day of the year. And it is primed to become bigger than ever this year as we're now locked in our houses.
I would like to ask you to help with this important effort. I would like ask you to agree to invite your friends and family to join you in supporting the American Heart Association with a donation as part of Giving Tuesday.
Thanks you for all that yoou are doing to make our commuity a safer and healthier place to live.
