MY REASON WHY

In 2013 my life was saved. I should have known I was at risk for heart disease since my father died of a heart attack at 28 years old, but I assumed since I was a woman I would be ok, that women didn't have the issues with heart disease that men do. I didn't know the symptoms of heart disease in women, and I didn't recognize I was about to have a heart attack until it was almost to late. By the time I was made it to Brigham and Womens in Boston my coronary arteries were 80% and 95% blocked, my symptoms had been brushed off as Stress and Anxiety until I met the Dr who saved my life, Dr Michael Davidson. Double by-pass first open heart surgery, mechanical aortic valve second...today I am heathy and strong, a volunteer, an advocate, and a Spokeswoman for Go Red for Women able to share my experience to help others.
