We Walk to Save Lives!
2022 Greater Washington Region Heart Walk
My dad, Greg Rober, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack last year on November 3rd. In that time I've been trying to figure out how to grieve - what I can do to make this all feel a little less awful. We all have our own way of handling trauma and loss and I've realized that I want to channel this into something hopeful. I can't bring Dad back, but I can raise money for an organization that focuses on heart health - something that affects so many people in this country.
This year I will be doing the American Heart Association Heart Walk here in DC, which, somewhat coincidentally, falls two days after the anniversary of Dad's passing, on Saturday, November 5th. I'm hoping that knowing that I'm trying to do some good will make that week a little less shitty. I've started a team - the Roamin' Candles* - and now I'm asking you for your support. Because of the amazing generosity and support I've already received, I've upped my team goal to $2,500 - and I'd love to be able to raise that and more - and any little bit helps! Please consider joining me in the walk or donating to my team.
Heart disease is still the no. 1 killer in our nation and stroke ranks no. 2 worldwide. You could do something to change that. Thank you so much for all your love and support.
* The name Roamin' Candles is an homage to Dad's birthday - which is the fourth of July.
