Sometimes, a certain nonprofit fundraiser or event touches us personally. The 2023 American Heart Association Heart Walk is one of those for our USARAF Strategic Mission Support (SMS) team, in Vicenza, Italy.   

In July 2023, Eric Counsil, a decorated U.S. Army veteran who served as the G39 special technical operations planner with our Cyber Mission sector’s SMS team, passed away unexpectedly while in Wiesbaden, Germany. Eric had previously been diagnosed with a heart condition and undergone a related surgical procedure in late 2022.    

As a tribute to Eric Counsil’s life and legacy, his family and SMS teammates will gather as a satellite team to support the 2023 AHA Heart Walk on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Caserma Ederle track in Vicenza, Italy. This will be an event for the entire Vicenza military community to come together to honor Eric’s memory.
