On August 8th, 2022, I was admitted into St Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with what I thought was heartburn. 12 hours of tests later, I was rushed into overnight 8-hour open heart surgery with an ascending aortic dissection. Thanks to Dr. Bobby Yanagawa and the Cardiology department at St Michael's, I was able to keep doing what I love. 

 

9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this. ​

 

Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death. ​
