For 40 years, my BFF, Irene, has been a major part of my life. Recently, she experienced a very unexpected heart emergency. This year, I walk for her! Here is her story:
"I didn’t consider myself at risk for any heart-related health issues as I had spent most of my life focusing on preventing diabetes. It came as a complete surprise to know that at the age of 57 I would find myself dealing with a small stroke, or TIA patient foramen ovule (PFO)--a whole in the wall of my heart that didn’t completely close up after I was born. Although I came through with no side effects, I learned that I had experienced previous TIAs. With the advice and expertise from a team of cardiologists and neurologists, I had my PFO closed, and am now free of the fear of a larger, possibly more catastrophic event. I am grateful and happy to have an UN-broken heart!"
I bet YOU, too, have someone in your life who would benefit from increased research and treatment from heart-related illnesses. PLEASE COME JOIN ME AS WE WALK! This year you can walk virtually OR in person.
If you cannot walk with us, you can still make a donation or support a fellow walker. Have a heart and help me reach my goal today!
