I’m sure everyone has someone in their life that has been affected by heart disease or stroke. You can walk for survivors or in memory of loved ones.
Personally, our family has been affected by a congenital heart defect. Our daughter, Chandler Byrd, was born with coarctation of the aorta arch and a bicuspid valve diagnosed after birth. She was airlifted to MUSC in Charleston at 8hrs old, where she had heart surgery to repair her aorta arch at 10 days old.
The American Heart Association is a huge part in funding the research that has made these types of surgeries possible that saved her life.
We walk every year for Chandler. Join us and walk for someone you love!
