Saving and improving lives can be as simple as taking a walk. And I know I'm making a difference in the lives of others by participating in the Heart Walk.
During my first pregnancy, I was diagnosed with preeclampsia late in my third trimester. I went in for a visit at 35 weeks and was immediately taken to the hospital for heart and blood pressure monitoring that eventually resulted in Amelia's early arrival. While this dramatic entrance seems fitting for our spirited two-year-old girl, the time from that clinic visit to her delivery was scary for Heath and me. I am so thankful Dr. Travelstead acted quickly to ensure Amelia and I remained healthy. I will never forget the feeling of relief and awe when I heard her cry in those first seconds!
I have directly benefited from lifesaving research in the field of cardiovascular health, and I am walking to celebrate the health of my daughters and me and to look forward to future developments that will improve more lives.
Additionally, I recently joined the team at University Heart at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. I am excited to be a part of advancing cardiovascular education, research and clinical care for Mississippians and to participate in the Heart Walk!
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today! Please donate or sign up to be on my walk team! See you on November 12th.
