I walk because I know that with every step, I am saving lives…..including my own.
As a former college athlete who attended Texas Christian University on a full swimming scholarship, I thought I was on top of my health. Back in 2019, that changed instantly. During one of my routine morning swim workouts I found myself short of breath and nauseous. With the help of friends I was lucky enough to end up at Tampa General Hospital shortly thereafter where a team of incredible doctors and nurses worked quickly to insert 3 stents in my LAD artery to alleviate blockages in excess of 90 percent. My “widow maker” heart attack was the wake up call no one wants.
Since then, staying on top of my numbers, eating heart healthy foods and exercising have been integral to maintaining my heart health journey. That is why I am honored and excited about supporting the 2024 Tampa Bay Heart Walk during the American Heart Association’s Centennial Year.
Heart health affects every one of us, our family members and friends. I hope I can count on your support as we continue to carry this crucial message of maintaining heart health forward.
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today.
