I am April Neumann, Executive Vice President of Workforce Transformation at Ultimate Medical Academy and a member of the Tampa Heart Walk Board for the American Heart Association. The fight against heart disease is personal for me because I lost two grandparents to cardiac events and know that many others have also lost loved ones. Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in the U.S., but it is also manageable, if not preventable, through simple lifestyle changes.
That is why I am leading the members of Team UMA to support the cause as part of our “Start With Your Heart” initiative in partnership with the American Heart Association. “Start With Your Heart” is a year-long, multifaceted effort that combines education and physical activity to help people lead healthier lives. Part of this effort includes UMA’s participation in the AHA Tampa Heart Walk on Saturday Nov. 4 at Raymond James Stadium
In addition to sponsoring the Heart Walk this year, UMA also supported Go Red for Women in February and is helping to balance the inequity in healthcare access for underserved communities by adopting a neighborhood clinic and providing 100 blood pressure cuffs to be used by patients who otherwise wouldn’t be able to track this important health measure.
Our fundraising goal for the Heart Walk is $25,000, and we need your support to get there. UMA has committed to matching the first $25,000 raised with the hope of contributing at least $50,000 to the AHA. We need your support to make a meaningful impact.
Please donate and join me and Team UMA as we help to end heart disease.
All funds raised will help the AHA’s communities through professional training, community education, and research funding. Together we can equip and empower our communities to take charge of their heart health!
