I am April Neumann, Executive Vice President of Workforce Transformation at Ultimate Medical Academy (UMA) and a member of the 2024 Heart Walk Executive Cabinet for the American Heart Association.
Heart disease remains the No. 1 cause of death in the U.S. I, like many of my colleagues, have been impacted, losing two of my grandparents to cardiac events.
Last year, UMA led the Tampa Bay Region in registered participants for the Heart Walk, with 824 team members. We raised almost $42,000 for the AHA and donated 100 blood pressure cuffs to Tampa Family Health Centers to support proactive blood pressure monitoring in underserved communities.
Our “Start With Your Heart” initiative is returning for the second year. With care at the center of our culture, we hope to outpace our 2023 efforts all in the name of education and advancing provisions for better heart care in communities across the country.
We’ve already had over 640 team members learn Hands-Only CPR this year and are donating CPR Anywhere kits along with Cardiac Emergency Response Plans to local youth sporting organizations.
My fundraising goal for the Heart Walk is $20,000, and I need your support to get there. UMA has committed to matching my efforts up to $20,000 with the hope of contributing at least $40,000 to the AHA.
Please donate and join me and Team UMA as we work to end heart disease.
All funds raised will help the AHA’s communities through professional training, education, and research funding. Together we can equip and empower our communities to take charge of their heart health!
