I walk because I am thankful for the advances in medicine that were afforded through fundraisers such as this one. It has allowed me to enjoy being with my mother for the past 7 years. She has undergone a procedure called transaortic valve replacement. She was 93 years old when she passed last July, but she enjoyed 7 wonderful years with her children and great-grandchildren.
