This cause is deeply personal to me. My father died a hero, trying to save my uncle from a rip current in the ocean. With a weak heart, he not only couldn't save him his own heart gave out fighting those waves. My grandfather also suffered greatly, enduring multiple strokes that led to vascular dementia, paralysis, and years of being unable to speak before his passing.
These men mean everything to me, and I've always searched for a way to honor their lives and struggles. This walk is for them and for every family touched by heart disease, strokes, and other health conditions.
Together, we can turn heartbreak into hope and turn bystanders into lifesavers.
I walk in Atlanta for my dad, my grandpa, and all of those whose hearts need a little extra help to keep beating.
