Our family has a strong history of heart health challenges. My grandmother on my dad's side experienced multiple strokes. My grandfather on my mom’s side had a heart attack, and my granny on my mom’s side passed away from a stroke. These patterns have made us more aware and proactive when it comes to our health.
My dad, despite facing a few health scares, has always prioritized preventative care and living a healthy lifestyle. He exercised regularly and believed in taking care of himself. Still, there were hidden risks none of us could have predicted. Two years ago, right after a family vacation, he had a stroke. It was a life-changing moment. He spent six months in the hospital and a rehabilitation facility, with my mom by his side every step of the way. When he returned home, he was walking with a walker—and we were so proud of how far he had come. His recovery continues, and he gets stronger every day.
That experience made us all reflect deeply. But rather than dwell on what we could have done differently, we choose to focus on what we can do now. The more we learn and educate ourselves, the more empowered we are to take control of our health. And with that knowledge, we believe we can create a healthier future—for ourselves and the generations to come.
