The Heart Walk is deeply personal to me because of the impact cardiovascular disease and stroke has had on my family.
I walk to honor my grandfather, a stroke survivor who shows incredible strength every day. I walk for my grandmother, whose recent pacemaker surgery reminds me how critical lifesaving technology is. I walk in memory of my stepdad’s father, who passed from complications of multiple strokes. And I walk for my great-grandfather, who died of a heart attack at just 49, when my grandmother was only 16.
These experiences fuel my passion for the American Heart Association’s mission. All of the work I do each day is for them and for the millions of others whose lives have been forever changed by heart disease and stroke.
Please join me in this year’s Greater Charlotte Heart Walk to fund critical research, support public education, and ensure more families get the care and hope they deserve. Together, we can create a future with stronger, healthier hearts for everyone.
