It is April and I am driving down my road of life, kinda on auto pilot at this point. Paying attention but not really paying attention, and then this massive speed bump comes along and hits so hard... I go and have myself a heart attack. I have sped through life recently, not truly paying attention to myself, so my heart decided, "Hey, you, it is time to make a change." I am okay. I had 80% blockage in that lovely artery they call the Widow Maker. 25% blockage in others. They placed 2 stents and sent me on my way to a 12-week rehab program. Which, by the way, I am absolutely loving! So obviously, this little speed bump has given me a fabulous opportunity to make a change and move forward with it. First task is, yes, we got the to be healthier part down, to share the importance of knowing to call for help. Friends & family, DO NOT HESITATE! Call for help! Our first responders are here for us. It can truly be a life changing outcome, so please make the call. Second task, educate yourself. Learn about the symptoms. Learn about heart disease, and remember to make that call. Third task, help me RAISE THAT MONEEEEEY! Most of you know that my amazing daughter, Brittany, works for the American Heart Association. So between this ole heart of mine, my kiddo, and the need for education, I decided to make a walk team for this cause. We are the Village of Vitality, and we are here to spread the word, take some steps, and raise some money. This amazing event is on Saturday, Sept 27th. I invite anyone to join my team. You can walk with me, raise money with me, share the education with me, or just plain learn with me. We all need to know the signs & symptoms. We all need to know to call for help.
