On March 18th, 2024, my life changed forever. After managing my heart condition for 12 years, it was finally time for the doctors to perform surgery to repair the leak in my mitral valve. Leading up to the surgery, several uncertainties loomed, including whether the procedure would involve a repair or a replacement, and whether the doctors would be able to use a minimally invasive laparoscopic approach or if they would need to open my chest.
What was certain, however, was the incredible support I received from my family, friends, and the doctors at the Mayo Clinic. The goodness of the Lord guided me through this significant transition in my life. Now, almost six months post-operation, I am excited to share my journey and to fundraise for those currently facing similar challenges or who may encounter them in the future.
We're all tied to heart disease and stroke in some way. We have to change that. Will you help me?
