I walk because I lost my son to heart disease, plus I battle every year myself, and I worry my grand daughter my recieve the same hereditary disease. I have always had high cholesteral in 2016 I was diagnosed with Familial hypercholesterolemia. Familial Hypercholesterolemia is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder, meaning that only one parent needs to have the condition for his or her children to inherit it. The abnormal gene is dominant, so even if the child receives a healthy gene from the second parent, the altered gene will override the healthy one. For individuals living with familial hypercholesterolemia, the liver is unable to recycle the natural supply of cholesterol that's constantly being produced. As a result, the cholesterol becomes dangerously overabundant, dramatically increasing the person's risk of developing coronary heart disease.
I lost my son April 2014 he was every bit the healthly child from appearance, but down deep his body was failing he was only 27. There is nothing worse than loosing your child but to also know that a disorder you have was most likely what killed him is enough to cause you go dark. My strength to not have done that was my family and knowing that I need to keep my promise to my son justs before he took his last breath. I told him that if he needed to go don't worry about his baby she will be taken care of. As you can see in my photo above Raelynn is a very happy child, she knows she is loved by all members of her family.
