9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
I suffered a heart attack in June of 2021. I was blessed that this happened while I was at work at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. I ignored symptoms for 2 days before I had a heart attack that forced me to go to the emergency room. My first thoughts were about my family and the thought of no longer seeing them truly scared me. Quick action by Grand Strand Medical Center's amazing ED, Cardiac, and nursing staff saved my life that day. Not everyone is as lucky and blessed as I was so I want to give back to a worthy cause to bring awareness to cardiac issues.
