All proceeds go to a mission "close to my heart":
During my junior year of high school, at 16 years old, I underwent open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve. Due to aortic stenosis (a form of valvular heart disease) my aortic valve had become so narrow it lead to heart failure. I endured years of tests, monitoring, and questioning as to what was wrong. Luckily, I had access to a support system, and the medical care needed to turn my life around.
The American Heart Association's mission is to fight cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Their work includes promoting healthy living through community initiatives, supporting evidence-based research, providing CPR training, and advocating for health equity.
