On June 19, 2016, my family and I suffered a devastating loss when my big sister Joi passed away after suffering a massive stroke. She was a bright, energetic, and truly unique person who loved her family, worked hard, and had created a life that she was proud to live.
That experience left us looking for ways to manage through the grief, keep her memory alive, and acknowledge the beautify that our JOI brought to our famiy and this world. To honor her memory and find some way to make an impact, we started participating in the Heart Walk and raising money to donate to the lifesaving programs and research offered by the American Heart Association.
Did you know that 9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death. ?
Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. I Walk to Remember my JOI. I also Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today by donating towards our goal. Together, we can all make a difference.
