Twenty years ago, my family's journey with heart disease became deeply personal. I lost two of my beloved sisters - one at 48 and another at just 43 - both to complications of hypertension. Their passing left a mark on my heart that time has not erased. Then, years later, my daughter developed cardiomyopathy after carrying twin boys. Watching her fight for her health reminded me how fragile - yet resilient - the human heart truly is. And in June of 2024, I faced another heartbreak-the loss of my husband to a heart attack. His passing was another painful reminder that heart disease can strike when we least expect it.
These experiences have taught me that heart disease doesn't discriminate by age or gender. So remember to listen to your body, it often whispers before it cries out.
Our hearts matter - let's care for them with love, intention, and awareness. Let's walk!!
