In 2018 I thought I was in the best shape of my life and physically on the outside it appeared so. Back to my college weight, working out 7 days a week and watching my diet. Little did I know that years ago a decision to ward off cancer put me at elevated risk for heart disease. Thanks to my alert brothers who saw me struggle with a bike ride, they urged me to get checked out. Thank God I did as doctor's found i had a widow maker in the making with 60% blockage in my heart. I had a Heart Stent implanted and am alive today!
Please get checked even if you think you are better than ever. I'm lucky but many women aren't as heart disease kills more women that any other health issue. But we can change this. Get involved with your local American Heart Association Chapter, get informed, spread the message and join us for Heart Walk 2026 in Railroad Park Birmingham!
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today.
