I walk in honor of my brother, Jordan, who suffered a stroke while he was a student athlete at Clemson University in 2013. Seeing someone so young, strong, and full of potential experience a life-altering health crisis was both shocking and heartbreaking for our family,
Jordan's stroke opened my eyes to the reality that heart disease and stroke do not discriminate. They can impact anyone, at any time - regardless of age, fitness level, or lifestyle. Our family's journey reinforced how critical awareness, prevention, and early education truly are.
By participating in the American Heart Association Midlands Heart Walk, I'm turning a deeply personal experience into purpose. Every step I take is in honor of my brother's strength and resilience, and in support of the research, education, and resources that help protect families from experiencing the same pain.
I walk so fewer families have to hear the words that changed our forever - and so more lives can be saved.
