My Why
This cause is no longer just a statistic to me—it’s deeply personal.
I recently lost my best friend, Debbie. We met in middle school and spent over 50 years growing up, raising families, and walking through life together. She was one of the kindest, most intuitive people I’ve ever known—the steady heart of our friend group.
Her loss has left a space that can never be filled.
Like so many others, her passing is a reminder of how quickly life can change—and how critical those first moments are during a cardiac emergency. I keep thinking about how different things might be if someone nearby knew what to do, if CPR had been started immediately, if more people were trained and ready to act.
That’s why this matters so much to me now.
Cardiac arrest doesn’t just happen in hospitals—it happens at home, in everyday moments, to people we love. And too often, nothing is done in those first crucial minutes.
I’m walking to honor Debbie, to carry her with me, and to help make sure more people have a chance at survival.
Every donation helps train more people in CPR, fund lifesaving research, and turn bystanders into lifesavers.
If you’re able, please consider supporting this cause. It truly can mean the difference between life and death.
Love,
Susan
