Heart disease and stroke, two of the leading causes of death and disability in the United States, have both affected people I know and love. On March 8th, I will be taking part in the 2026 Broward Heart Walk in honor and memory of my loved ones; I am asking for your support. Money raised from the walk helps fund critical scientific research for heart disease and stroke, training more people in CPR, promoting heart-healthy lifestyles, and supporting survivors.
Donations fuel innovation, helping with the development of advanced drug-releasing stents, cholesterol as well as blood pressure-lowering treatments, AI-powered stroke detection wearables and more. The funds also assist with public health initiatives like CPR training.
Did you know that 9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
I Walk to Save Lives. Thank you in advance for helping me reach my goal. ~Melissa
