My Story
In June 2018, I had my first heart surgery. It started with nausea and pain in my shoulder blades that sent me to the ER. At first, I was told it was indigestion and sent home. But just days later, the pain didn’t go away, so I went to a different hospital—and that decision saved my life.
Tests revealed I had severe blockages and needed immediate surgery. During recovery, my doctor told my family I needed two stents—one artery was 90% blocked, another 75%, and one had already ruptured months earlier. He said I should not have survived, and if I hadn’t come in when I did, I likely wouldn’t have made it a few more days.
The following year, I suffered a heart attack and received a third stent. It’s now been six years since my last cardiac episode, and every day I’m grateful to God for my life and health.
I support the American Heart Association because research, awareness, and education truly save lives. I walk for myself, and I walk to help others get the chance to live their stories too. â¤ï¸
