Love is my why! Love for my family and their well-being is what got me started as a participant with AHA. I have been involved with the Heart Walk and Heart Ball of Huntsville for many years, and so has my family. For me, it is my #1 charity. I was diagnosed with a MVP many years ago. I had a left and right heart cath and the outcome was favorable. My grandfather had three strokes before passing away due to HD. One of my brothers had a massive heart attack, survived that, but a few years later passed away due to HD and other health issues. One of my sisters is a survivor of a silent heart attack. One of my nieces was born with heart problems, had surgery, and still stands as a survivor. I have many other family, friends, and co-workers who have been affected by HD. Many have passed on, but many are still standing strong, fighting the battle. Love for my friends and co-workers also keeps me involved with AHA. One of my beloved co-workers had a massive heart attack, just 9 days after delivering her beautiful baby girl! God worked through the hands of the cardiologist and staff who provided the knowledge and expertise so that she would have the opportunity to continue to care for her family and share her testimony, her story.
I would like to extend my gratitude for the countless efforts being made by AHA to reduce death and disability that is caused by HD and Stroke. I would like to thank everyone involved for everything they have done and continue to do to educate the public about HD and healthy living.
I walk in honor of family, friends, and co-workers.
Thank you for allowing me to tell my story. js
