You might be wondering why "Marching Towards Heart Health" is our team name. 

 

Our team's coach, Leslie, has been participating in marching band since she was a kid. Middle school, high school, college (FSU Marching Chiefs!), and now the Lofty Pursuits Community Marching Band in Tallahassee. 

 

Think about the songs that get you going, the ones that have a great beat. How about those tunes that really pump you up and get you excited? Did you know that music can save lives?

 

Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on the marching band field, and in neighborhoods everywhere. CPR, especially if performed immediately, can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim's chance of survival. Now here's where the music comes in - songs like "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees, "Dancing Queen" by ABBA, "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor, and "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey all have a tempo of 100-120 beats per minute, which can help you feel more confident performing Hands-Only CPR. And they all happen to be great marching band tunes!
