Hi, I'm Morghann and my life drastically changed this year in the blink of an eye...
On January 8th, 2026, I turned 38. I made a promise to myself that this year was going to be a year of change and positive growth. For months, I made strides towards my goals and I felt so great about everything I was accomplishing. Towards the end of March, I started a new job in another medical office. I was proud of the leap I had taken to start this new journey. I was elbow deep in learning and honestly, just happy. On Friday April 10th 2026, about mid-morning, everything changed. I started having extreme chest pain. I was reassured that it was "just anxiety". The pain was the absolute worst, I've ever felt. For more than 40 minutes, I was told over and over, I was just having anxiety. During this time I started heaving and sweating. I got really dizzy and laid on a sidewalk outside of my office. Eventually, my husband was called for my "anxiety attack". When he took me to the emergency room, we found out that I had actually suffered a heart attack. Everything was a whirlwind. I kept reading my patient portal over and over again from my hospital room. I was released a few days later and went home. I had no idea my life was going to change again in less than a week. On Wednesday April 15th, 2026, I suffered my second heart attack while at home. What started out as chest pain progressively turned into pain radiating into my arms and shoulder blades. I tried napping and nothing was helping. By evening the pain was getting to an unbearable state. We left for the emergency room and in less than 30 minutes of our arrival, it was confirmed that I had suffered another heart attack. The following day during a heart catheterization, it was discovered that I had Spontaneous Coronary Artey Dissection. I am now under the care of multiple specialists and on quite a few medications to keep me stable. While the future is unknown, I do know that my story isn't over.
In a heartbeat, you could be the difference.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital don’t survive. Most of the time, it’s because no one nearby performed CPR. But together, we can change that.
Extraordinary things happen when people take action. A small step. A simple skill. A lifesaving moment. Heart Walk brings communities together to create health and hope for every heartbeat. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Help me reach my goal today!
