Heart disease isn't just a statistic to me— it's part of my family's story.
In 2016, my mom survived a major heart attack that led to emergency triple bypass surgery. Watching her fight through recovery showed me just how strong she is and how precious every heartbeat truly is.
Just one year later, in 2017, my dad—who lived with atrial fibrillation (AFib)—suffered a heart attack and went into cardiac arrest at home. By the time he was found, he couldn't be saved. Losing him left a hole in our family that can never be filled.
My grandpa, Poppy, survived a ruptured aortic aneurysm—something many people don't survive. He then spent the next 10 years living with heart disease, enduring surgeries, appointments, and countless challenges before he passed away. Those extra years with him were an incredible gift.
Heart disease continues to touch my family. This past Christmas, my grandma suffered a heart attack. Thankfully, she survived, but it was another reminder of just how quickly life can change.
I walk for my mom.
I walk in memory of my dad and Poppy.
I walk in hope for my grandma—and for every family facing heart disease.
The American Heart Association reports that 9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital don't survive—often because no one nearby knows CPR. That statistic isn't just a number to me—it's my family's reality. As a nurse, I know firsthand that knowledge, research, and quick action save lives. Every person trained in CPR, every breakthrough in heart research, and every dollar raised gives another family hope.
That's why I'm asking for your support. Every donation—no matter the amount—helps fund lifesaving research, CPR education, and programs that give more families the chance to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and everyday moments with the people they love.
Thank you for helping me honor my dad, celebrate my mom's strength, remember my Poppy, and be grateful for more time with my grandma while fighting for a future where fewer families have to experience this kind of loss. Every step we take together helps create hope for every heartbeat. ❤
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Help me reach my goal today!
