Why I Walk:
Walking with Heart, and Remembering My Mom
For the past several years, I have proudly walked in the Palm Beach County Heart Walk alongside my incredible colleagues on the JMC Open Heart team. Every year, we step up to champion cardiovascular health, support groundbreaking research, and stand with our patients and community.
This year, however, the walk is deeply personal.
Earlier this year, I experienced the sudden and heartbreaking loss of my mom to cardiac complications. She was one of my biggest supporters, and in years past, she stood right beside me at the Heart Walk—celebrating every step and crossing that finish line with a smile. The photo on this page captures one of my favorite memories of us together at the finish line, sharing a moment of pure joy and pride.
Stepping into the role of co-coach this year, my commitment to this mission is stronger than ever. I am walking to honor my mom’s memory, to celebrate her life, and to ensure fewer families have to experience the sudden pain of losing someone they love to heart disease.
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading health threat, but through education, early intervention, and life-saving research funded by the American Heart Association, we can change those statistics.
Whether you join our team to walk alongside us, make a donation, or simply help share our message, your support means the world to me and to everyone whose lives have been touched by heart disease.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping keep memories alive and paving the way for healthier futures.
In a heartbeat, you could be the difference.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital don’t survive. Most of the time, it’s because no one nearby performed CPR. But together, we can change that.
Extraordinary things happen when people take action. A small step. A simple skill. A lifesaving moment. Heart Walk brings communities together to create health and hope for every heartbeat. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Help me reach my goal today!
