This is a cause that is near and dear to me. My younger brother was diagnosed many years ago with cardiomyopathy, which is a fatal disease of the heart muscle that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body. The doctors think that he got it from a virus that attacked his heart a long time ago. It was just really bad luck because he doesn't have any of the usual conditions that lead to this.
He already has had a pacemaker and defibrillator implanted. Not to be too dramatic, butI visited him soon after that, and I honestly didn't know if he would make it until that Christmas (2023).
He is now in congestive heart failure, but recent medication developments have really improved his condition. He also got a Cardiac Contractiliy Modulator. All of the treatments were researched by the AHA so helping fund this research is important to me.
I encourage each of you to consider joining my team and possibly donating to the team. No donation is required to join the team, but joining shows your support for this cause, and hopefully those in the Raleigh area can join the walk with other LexisNexis employees in the fall.
Thank you so much!
