This year's Triangle Heart Walk is especially meaningful to me.
I am a heart transplant survivor, and this year marks my five-year heart-versary. For more than 25 years, I have lived with heart disease. It has shaped my life in ways I never imagined - from receiving an ICD implant before I was 30 years old to ultimately facing the reality of a heart transplant.
My heart disease progressed over the years, and the transplant was one of the hardest journeys I've ever walked. But it has also been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Because of that gift, I have been given a second chance - a chance to live fully, to serve, and to advocate for others.
Organizations like the American Heart Association have played a critical role in advancing research, improving treatments, and increasing awareness in the world of cardiology. Their work impacts people like me - and countless others who may be living with heart disease without even knowing it.
I walk to honor my journey.
I walk to raise awareness.
I walk to give hope.
I walk to help fund lifesaving research and support.
If my story moves you, I invite you to support my page, donate if you are able, and help me continue fighting for those who are still in the battle.
Thank you for being part of my heart journey. ❤️ I AM A SURVIVOR ❤️
