Heart health is personal for me.
I live with autonomic dysregulation from POTS, which can cause heart palpitations and other cardiovascular symptoms. I also have elevated Lipoprotein(a), or Lp(a)—an inherited cardiovascular risk factor. Because Lp(a) itself is largely genetic, part of protecting my heart means managing the risk factors I can control, including taking a statin to lower my LDL cholesterol.
My journey has taught me that heart health isn't always about lifestyle. Sometimes genetics and conditions we cannot see play a role, too.
That's why this walk means so much to me. I'm walking to raise awareness, support heart-health research and remind others to know their risks, listen to their bodies, and advocate for their health.
Every step—and every dollar—can make a difference.
