This weekend, I will be walking in the Triangle Heart Walk in honor of my grandson. Bennett was born with a congenital heart disease known as “hypoplastic (small) aortic arch” which caused his heart to work extra hard to get oxygenated blood supply to his organs. Thanks to modern medicine and an amazing surgical team, Bennett had successful open heart surgery at 2 weeks old and received a tissue graft to enlarge his aorta (which was described as being the size of a coffee stirrer!). I am forever grateful to the cardiac specialists who save lives daily - and saved Bennett's life! I'm also grateful for organizations like the American Heart Association that fund research, training and awareness in the field of heart disease and heart health!
This week, Bennett will be 6 months old - he has 2 teeth, smiles and giggles and is “cute as a button”. I will be walking and fundraising in his honor! Any donations to our "Outlaw & Order" walk team will be greatly appreciated!
