Hi, I’m Addie.
I was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which means the left side of my heart didn’t develop like it was supposed to. Before I was two years old, I had three open-heart surgeries. I don’t remember them, but they helped save my life.
For the next seven years, my heart was doing great. Every checkup brought good news, and I was able to live like a regular kid.
Then, in January 2023, I had a massive heart attack. My family learned that my heart was failing, so we moved to Austin, Texas, where I could be placed on the heart transplant list. Then we waited and hoped for the call.
In August 2023, we got a very special call. Someone I will never get to meet, and a family I can never thank enough, gave me a new heart and a second chance at life.
Today, I’m in 6th at St. Richard, and I’m back to doing my favorite thing in the world: dancing at Mississippi Metropolitan Dance Academy.
This year, I’m walking for the doctors who fixed my heart, the researchers who helped make my transplant possible, and all the kids and families who are still waiting for their call. The American Heart Association helps fund this important work.
Please consider donating to my page or coming to walk with me. It would mean so much to me and my family.
Thank you! ❤
