My "why" is simple: I was given a second chance.
My health journey began long before my heart attack in 2009. Starting in 2007, I experienced serious medical complications, including blood clots and multiple surgeries, while living with a clotting disorder that had not yet been diagnosed.
Those experiences changed my life and gave me a perspective I never imagined I'd have. They also taught me the importance of listening to your body, asking questions, and never taking your health or another day for granted.
Today, I'm grateful to be here, doing the things I love, spending time with family and friends, and continuing to serve my community.
That's why chairing the 2026 Acadiana Heart Walk means so much to me. This isn't simply about fundraising. It's about awareness, education, prevention, and giving others a fighting chance.
I share my story not for sympathy, but because I know firsthand how quickly life can change. If my experience encourages even one person to take their health more seriously, then sharing it is worth it.
I was given a second chance, and I want to use it to make a difference for someone else.
I hope you'll join me in making this year's Heart Walk something special for Acadiana.
